Jesse Smith has made halting progress through the Angels' minors. He skipped low-A Cedar Rapids after a promising stint at Provo, but ended up repeating Cedar Rapids and Rancho. He has middling numbers this year; his destiny is either the bullpen or to become an organizational player.
