One of the reasons the Travs are indifferent to moving to
another facility is just how evident the park's age is.
Missing fan amenities common to most every newer park in the
league, Ray Winder field is especially unloved by the players,
who have to negotiate an uneven playing surface, illustrated
here by the break in the outfield just to the left of Matt
Pali's (number 22 in the picture) feet. After 74 years of use,
the warning track is two to three feet below home plate, making
for a difficult fielding situation not unlike that in the final
days of the Polo Grounds before the Giants moved to San Francisco.
