Windmills in the San Gorgonio pass north of Palm Springs, on the eastbound I-10. Generating up to 240 MW of electricity, it's hard to believe that even more of these units used to turn here, but advances in technology have made it possible to put up fewer and more efficient units. Fresh snow on the fog-shrouded mountains and rare greenery from recent rains makes the passage even more dramatic.
