An inspired piece of Eddie Bane larceny, Nick Adenhart
was one of the two top prep pitching prospects in the
country. But a few weeks before the draft, he blew out his
elbow, and scouts lost interest after he had Tommy John
surgery. The Angels didn't. Unfazed by reports that he was
going to sign with U. North Carolina, they plucked him in the
14th round for a $710,000 bonus.
The next few photos will show his windup, release, and
followthrough. Unfortunately, they also show his tendency to
throw across his body, a deliver that helps add deception but
also adds wear on his elbow.
