Sean Rodriguez is well behind Brandon Wood at the shortstop position, but he's having a solid season of his own right now (.302/.362/.528 with 16 homers). As is typical of Angels hitters, the absence of walks is a problem (23/83 BB/K ratio) for a player who has in the past exhibited relatively little power. If his sudden power burst this year isn't a fluke, the Angels may be more inclined to push him harder. One problem: Brandon Wood might need more than one year at Arkansas given his strikeout rate.
