The man himself (2006 stats). The lesson he's learning is that Texas League pitchers
aren't giving him very much to hit, something we saw in person
when at least one pitcher in the Hooks game pussyfooted around
the plate with Wood up there. He's nowhere near the kind
of year he had last year, but not too many guys have years like
that. Wood hit several long flyball outs in both the games we
saw, so it's not like he's swinging and missing all the
time. His average has taken a pretty severe beating, dropping
about 40 points versus his 2005 at Rancho. He still paces the
Travs with eight homers, though.
