Todd Wellemeyer is in some ways a poster boy for the problems the Cubs' system has with actually delivering a finished product to the big club. Posting his best walk rate (4.19 BB/9) in AAA after a third tour at Iowa last year, he exploded for a 6.12 ERA and gave up almost two homers per nine once transported to the pitcher-unfriendly confines at Wrigley. Dogged by control issues, he'll probably start in AAA yet again, and may end up a minor league free agent at the end of the year.
