Baseball America's 23rd-ranked prospect in the M's system, Renee Cortez was suspended for steroid use at the beginning of the season last year. He was added to the 40-man by the end of it, and will start the season in AAA Tacoma, possibly to earn a promotion to the big club by midseason.
