Not a very good series of photos; this was really the side
effect of shooting at night, something I haven't done much with
this lens. The pros use the Canon f/2.8 400mm telephoto, and the
difference is significant. I was able to stretch it out some by
upgrading to one of the manual modes (auto exposure) with ISO
1600 equivalent in the later images, but even then, trying to
shoot through an f/5.0 lens at night isn't that great. Almost
everything I shot turned to mush, with tons of motion blur,
once I got it home. Next time,
I'm going to use the ISO 3200 equivalent and pray. That big
lens is $7,000 worth of equipment...
This is Ryan LaMotta, the Baylor Bears' starter. Last year he
had a 5-2 record with seven saves and a 2.16 ERA, a crucial cog
in their run to the College World Series title. With 11 players
drafted or otherwise leaving the squad, Baylor has a lot of new
blood coming in. He was basically good, but balked in a run,
tying the game.
